Senior Citizens Commission

Burlington's senior citizens are a living history of the past.  They bring value to our growing community and the responsibility of the Commission on Senior Citizen Services is to ensure their health and happiness.  For this reason, the Commission studies and recommends programs and service policies for residents 60 years and older. The Commission endeavors to assist residents to maintain independence in the home environment while providing a means of socialization, peer support, and health and human service programs in our rural environment.  Examples of programs initiated by the Commission include Dial-A-Ride Transportation, Senior Citizen Housing, the Evergreens located at Thompson's Way, and the development and distribution of a Directory Senior Citizen Services.

The Burlington Dial-A-Ride program is a town service providing van transportation for our residents, 60 years and older, or persons with special needs. The service is available Monday through Friday, year round, excluding holidays and during inclement weather.

People interested in arranging for transportation on Ongoing Schedule Days and for On Demand Medical Appointments may call 860-673-6789 x7, during regular business hours.
