Helping To Keep Your Building Projects on Track

Greetings from the Building Department! Our office is here to provide you with information regarding any building questions as they relate to safety, structural integrity, and code requirements.

We also check prospective contractors for proper licensing with the Department of Consumer Protection and Worker’s Compensation insurance before issuing a permit.  Code Officials play a major role in ensuring that all commercial, residential, public assembly and other buildings within the Town of Burlington are constructed in accordance with the provisions of the State Building Code.  These provisions address structural stability, fire safety, adequate means of egress (exits), sanitation, safe wiring, and more.  It is a Code Official’s responsibility to protect public health, safety, and welfare in relationship to the “built” environment through effective code enforcement.  The minimum Permit Fee will be $32.26, ($22.00 administration fee, $10.00 building permit fee, $.26 State of Connecticut education fee) and for each additional $1000 of estimated cost or fraction thereof will be $10.26 per thousand.

We will also assist you by pulling records on all inspections, permits, plot plans and most house records.   The most important thing to remember?  Get a building permit BEFORE you start!  It’s the LAW.  Go online 24/7 or stop by our office during regular business hours of operation to meet with the staff regarding required forms for various projects.

We look forward to helping you with all your building needs!
