BRIDGES

BARNES HILL & VINEYARD ROAD BRIDGES -
Have been completed.  Federal grant awards utilized.

COVEY ROAD BRIDGE - OPEN

The Town of Burlington is providing Public Informational Forum for Bridge No. 020-012 concerning the Bridge, which carries Covey Road over Bunnell Brook in the Town of Burlington.  

The project design phase has been completed. Town waiting for the Army Corp of Engineer Permit before we can commence construction.   This project consists of replacement of the existing bridge in its entirety with a new structure.  The bridge is located on Covey Road, approximately 150-feet south of Hotchkiss Road.  Construction of this project is estimated to cost up to $880,000.  A Federal Grant of 50% of the costs has been awarded to the Town of Burlington.

Information regarding this project can be found on the Town’s website on 02/10/2021.  The public is invited to review this information.  Comments, questions and concerns may be submitted to the Town within 14-days of this posting. 

It is the Town’s policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns to assist in the project’s development.  Anyone interested in obtaining further information or providing input may also do so by contacting Gary Giroux, P.E., Cardinal Engineering Associates, Inc. at (203) 238-1969.

MAIN STREET BRIDGE - CLOSED

The Town of Burlington is providing Public Informational Forum for Bridge No. 020-006 concerning the Bridge, which carries Main Street over Whigville Brook in the Town of Burlington.  

The project is currently in the final design phase which will be completed shortly.  Army Corp of Engineer permit issuance will then be needed to move forward. This project consists of replacement of the existing bridge in its entirety with a new structure.  The bridge is located on Main Street, approximately 1,850-feet north of South Main Street.  Construction of this project is estimated to cost up to $1,010,000.  We have received a 50% Federal grant funding award.

FOOTE ROAD BRIDGE 

Foote Road Bridge Rehabilitation .  A State of CT STEAP grant was awarded for $95,000.  Estimated cost is $100,000.  Design is in the final stages.  The Town will be going out to bid in the near future.

PUNCH BROOK ROAD/CASE ROAD/GEORGE WASHINGTON TPKE (PORTIONS OF ROAD)

Town is preparing for design phase of this road project.  Estimated total cost is approximately 1.4 million.  Town received state LOTCIP grant.  Design is only cost to the Town.

WEST CHIPPEN HILL & SCOVILLE ROAD (PORTION ROADS TO HULL ROAD)

Currently in design phase.  State lotcip grants awarded. Will go to bid in Spring 2022.
