Happy Spring!

It has been nearly five months since I began my term serving the community of Burlington. It has been an extremely busy time, but we have accomplished a lot during a Covid challenging environment. I wish to provide everyone a quick update on a few key developments

• Johnnycake Mountain Park – The barns have come down and the view is spectacular. The area is also much safer and we will be looking at the next steps to move forward on the property.
• The Johnnycake Music Festival is back this year! Save the date on your calendar Saturday June 11, 2022. I wish to thank the wonderful people with the Make a Mark organization for their hard work pulling this together. I also wish to thank our public works employees, police, volunteers, building department and other town employees for making this event happen. See you all there!
• Covey Road Bridge construction starts next week! I made some phone calls and we finally received a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers. We also received some contact information from the organization so that we can help move along other projects. Completion is scheduled for September 2022.
• We have obtained additional sports field use from the town of Harwinton. More field time for Lacrosse including a field in the Fall as well as Soccer and Baseball. I wish to thank Mike Criss for working with us to improve access for these programs at no cost to the sports organizations or the town of Burlington. I wish to thank public works and parks and recreation from Burlington and Harwinton for coordinating this. I also wish to thank all the volunteers from the sports organizations for working with Burlington and Harwinton jointly and providing an excellent regional sports program.

I am looking forward to this spring and summer and putting a difficult Covid challenging winter behind us. Covid is still among us and everyone is free to chose how to protect themselves, but I am looking forward to the warmer weather and seeing everyone’s smiling faces.
