Recycle! It Not Only Makes Sense, It Saves Cents
Please remember that the Town recycling pick up is every other week and the schedule is listed below. Also, when placing your material in the Blue Barrel, do not place any plastic bags in the barrel. We recycle all material with Number 1 through Number 7 on the bottom of all containers also paper towel rolls and all other clean cardboard boxes. All material including cardboard boxes have to be in the barrel so that the vendor will pick up. Material left on the ground will not be picked up.
When placing your barrel at the curb side please to be sure to leave the barrel 4 feet away from any other objects, including the green barrel.
If you are a new homeowner and just moved into a house and you have many boxes you can drop those boxes at the Towns Recycle Center located off of Mills Drive located behind the Town Hall.
Effective January 1, 2020, Bulky waste pick-up will be continuously running all year long on Fridays by Appointment Only. You must call USA Hauling and Recycling at 860-379-1662 to schedule an appointment for a Friday pick-up.
If you are in need of an additional trash barrel ($95 for the barrel and $175 for yearly usage charge), please contact the First Selectmen's Office at 860-673-6789, ext. 201
If you wish to purchase a bear proof trash barrel, contact USA Hauling customer service at 800-998-2984.

They Will Not Pick up These Items
Any electronics including TV's, paint, chemicals, any construction debris including kitchen cabinets, sheet rock or wood from a project, brush, mattresses and box springs
If you need to have a refrigerator, freezer or de-humidifier picked up you will need to purchase a sticker from the Town Clerk or the recycle center to place on the unit and the Vendor will then pick it up. The cost of refrigerators is $20 and de-humidifiers is $10 this will offset the cost of removing the Freon from the units.
Items not eligible for pick can be brought to the Recycle Center please see Recycle Center for information on cost and items that can be dropped off at the Recycle Center.
If you have leaves to dispose of, they can be dropped off at the recycle center in bulk or in paper bags during the months of April/May and October/November.
What Burlington Residents Need to Know and Do
All residential electronic equipment. The town's trash hauler will no longer pick up TVs, computers, monitors, or any other electronic devices. There will NOT be a fee charged at the Recycling Center for these items.
And, starting November 1, 2008, the town began charging a fee for the disposal of refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. The town's trash hauler will still pick-up these items during the scheduled Friday pick up if they display the appropriate sticker. Residents are required to go to the Town Clerk's office and pick up a sticker to place on the item for pick-up.
It's important to remember that NO chemicals are accepted at the Recycling Center. Any water-based or oil-based paints in original containers can be dropped off at the recycling center.
When bringing any waste, please remember all construction debris should be no longer than 4 feet in length, sheet rock needs to be separated to be placed in a separate dumpster, we do not take stumps of any kind. In the Spring (April/May) and Fall (October /Nov.) of each year, we also provide a specific leaf dumpster for residents. All bagged leaves must be in recyclable paper bags. We also offer chips that can be picked up at the intersection of Vineyard and Foote Road - across from the Foote Road Recreation Park.
