Notice is hereby given that a Special Town Meeting will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 7:30 P.M. at the Burlington Town Hall, 200 Spielman Highway, Burlington, Connecticut to consider and vote upon a series of four ordinances as summarized below:
1. An Ordinance Providing a Property Tax Exemption for Farm Buildings – encourages the preservation of farming and farmland by providing a tax exemption for certain farm buildings.
2. Property Tax Relief for the Elderly and Disabled Ordinance – amends existing ordinances to increase the maximum income level for which tax relief may be provided to eligible residents age 65 or older or permanently disabled taxpayers.
3. Tax Exemption for Veterans Ordinance – amends existing ordinances to increase the amount of tax exemption provided to veterans and to increase the maximum income limit for eligibility for the exemption.
4. Tax Relief for Volunteer Firefighters Ordinance – encourages the retention of the Town’s existing volunteer firefighters and attracts new firefighters by amending existing ordinances to increase the tax relief for volunteer firefighters.
