The Town of Burlington is a living example of New England's proud and hardworking history, retaining its distinctively rural character since its founding in 1806.
Located at the foot of the Berkshires in west-central Connecticut, Burlington features quality housing, plentiful open space and a traditional town center. Identified by the U.S. Census as one of the fastest growing towns in Connecticut, Burlington grew 15% between 1990 and 1994. This growing population, coupled with ample opportunities for commercial development at the Town's historic core, makes Burlington an ideal place to locate a small company, open an office or develop a restaurant or retail business.
While the surrounding region boasts such big industries as health care, insurance and telecommunications, Burlington welcomes small and fledgling businesses into its community. The ten-mile radius market area of Burlington includes a total of about 290,000 people and a labor force of roughly 150,000. Employment in this market area is greater than in any other part of the Central Connecticut region. Burlington offers many business opportunities, particularly in its Central Business District. This zone was created specifically to nurture business. There are nearly a dozen parcels available for development in or near the center. All are located on or close to Route 4.
Town officials and the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, are available to assist commercial developers, lend a guiding hand through the approval process and support the ongoing needs of business owners. More about Burlington....
